Pre-K Now
About Pre-K Now

Pre-K Now is a public education and advocacy campaign that advances high-quality, voluntary pre-kindergarten for all three and four year olds. We are a project of the Pew Center on the States and receive generous support from The Pew Charitable Trusts and other funders.

At Pre-K Now, we:

  • provide targeted financial and technical assistance to advocates and other leaders working to secure policy changes and public funds that will improve the availability and quality of state-funded pre-k programs;
  • educate policymakers about the need for pre-k; and
  • raise public awareness about the need for pre-k for all children.

We are proud to be a trusted resource for policy information and a strong partner for pre-k advocacy.

Pre-K Now is committed to its vision of a nation where every child enters kindergarten prepared to succeed. Learn about the mission behind that vision.

Pre-K Now gratefully acknowledges our funders whose support makes our work possible.

The success of our mission depends on a quality staff, who bring diverse perspectives and expertise to our operations.

Pre-K Now welcomes applications from committed professionals interested in supporting pre-k for all children. See our available opportunities.

The Case for Pre-K in Education Reform
Fifty years of evidence shows that high-quality, voluntary pre-k is among the best strategies for education reform. Our brief highlights findings from the latest state pre-k program evaluations that continue to document gains in key measures of student learning, including early literacy, math and vocabulary; reduced need for special and remedial education; and lower incidences of grade retention.
